The shimmer, the glam, the classic styles….

Hello!Project nailed it this time! This is in my opinion the most elegant music video since V-u-den’s classic JPOP song ”Aijisai Ai Ai Monigatari” . I’m so excited to see how this single will perform on the charts!

Lets start with Hello!Project’s leader, Yajima Maimi!

Okay, she has to be the most beautiful Idol in the entire world. This dress looks absolutely amazing on her! Despite it being fitted around her torso she was still able to dance perfectly. With her being 24 I keep worrying that the girls will disband soon…  Maimi has no flaws that I could call her out on for this MV.

Nakajima Saki did amazing! This particular single didn’t really bring out her skills. The dance was more subtle than previous singles. It gave us a chance to see a new side of her, she was able to add some charming expressions that we wouldn’t otherwise see. So, Nacky was flawless as always, it wasn’t her fault the choreography different.

The Ace, Suzuki Airi

Oh my god… she was so engaged with the cameras, by far these are Airi’s greatest close ups since she joined Hello!Project in 2002. I don’t know what more I can say to convince people she’s the most professional Idol we’ve seen in a while. I used to not pay much attention to Airi, I thought she was overrated for a while.. However, as of 2012 I started to get the hype , she’s brilliant. This MV is a great example of what an Idol should be!

She was absolutely stunning in this! We usually get the boyfriend image of Chisa so I was shocked that she could pull this off. She doesn’t get enough credit for being able to work every single style she tries on! I love how they styled her hair too! Its hard to work with that length, they really pulled this one off! Good Job Chisaaaaaaa!!

And the baby MaiMai is last but not least 

Sometimes I forget we’re the same age, I usually think she’s younger but lately, especially in this MV, I thought Hagiwara Mai was older. I’m not used to seeing the flapper girl style in JPOP! She looks so grown up now. Other than that, Maimai didn’t bring anything new to the table. It’s okay though, she’s still amazing!

WOTA 101: How To Handle Your Oshimen’s Graduation

No one can really prepare you for the emotional aspects of joining a JPOP fandom.

When you find an Idol group, even if it’s by mistake, you suddenly become part of a legacy. Something bigger than you think it really is. You don’t yet know that you’ll adapt your personal life to these idols. You don’t know that someday you’ll believe clicking on that music video was the very best decision you ever made.

As you watch this music video you begin to shift focus to a face that draws you in. Whats her name? How old? Is she new? Is she an original member? Why doesn’t she have many lines?  Suddenly, you’re focused on someone you didn’t know 4 minutes ago. You have an Oshimen!!

One video leads to another, that video furthers curiosity, and curiosity welcomes you into your new fandom. So, she becomes the member you want to see perform! You notice her flaws have improved and her style has changed. You feel genuinely happy for the group.

Before you know it, 1 week turns into a year.. You know everything by now, you’ve never missed an event, live stream, blog post or anything.

She starts to do variety shows all by herself, magazines, photobooks. She’s finally the Idol she aimed to be. And it’s all thanks to the fans and group.

She’s made friends, foes and bravely fought her own battles.

She stands on stage, infront of thousands of eyes gazing upon her journey. She announces her graduation and time seems to stand still.

“What?” Thats all I could say at the time.

Now you feel it, clicking on that music video a few years ago lead to the emptiness you feel on their graduation. However, you wouldn’t change it for the world. To this day, you’ll never regret clicking on that video.

My ultimate oshimen is Tanaka Reina, became a fan in 2009. Kusumi Koharu had just graduated. From the start I knew it was Something Reina would do too. You just never really prepared for it. The graduation of Kamei Eri, JunJun and LinLin was so sad.. I still didn’t fully understand it until I entered the AKB48 fandom in 2010.  Takahashi Ai from Morning Musume had announced her graduation along with AKB48 members and so on.

None of that really prepared me for when Reina left.. Almost three years later, I still haven’t re-adapted to Morning Musume. Despite how much I love Maachan, I’m not sure it’ll ever be the same.

 

Don’t get me wrong, I’m so happy I have Sato Masaki to ground me into the fandom. Without having someone to cheer on I would’ve left by now.

So, my advice to you

1. Enjoy your oshimen now, because “now”  won’t be here in 3- 5 years!
2. Before your oshimen graduates, find a newer member you like! By the time your oshimen graduates you’ll at least have a reason to support her legacy.
3. Its okay to take a break, we all need one.. Just don’t forget how hard they worked to keep the fanbase. Don’t let it go to waste.
4. Your oshimen isn’t dying!! They are just changing their career path! Be happy for them!
5. Avoid the “Uta Hell” (Uta, a Hello!Project member that graduated early on causing her fans to be so upset). Sometimes fans actually face depression after their oshimen  leaves. Its okay to be sad and cry!! But don’t allow your oshimen’s graduation to dictate your health. Remember, she’s a hobby (a HUGELY SIGNIFICANT hobby),  not your girlfriend haha.

If you have any other tips by all means add them!!

I should’ve mentioned Miyazawa Sae but the reason I wrote this is because lately the Hello!Project community is even more depressed about Kamei Eri, Yuukarin and Uta as well.. Maro..  Riho.. MeiMei.. Zukki.. stay strong my fellow wotas.. 

International AKB48 Sister Groups to FINALLY Debut

The debut of MNL48 is confirmed.. again… this time they’ll keep their word!

AKB48 will also see 2 more groups rise up, TPE48 in Taipei and BNK48 in Bangkok .

I’ve yet to be disappointed by Thai musicians so this will be amazing!!

I’d like to see a South Korean sister group someday too, I can’t seem to get into Kpop(besides YG) despite all of the amazing groups Kosupure has shown me! So it would definitely tie me into the genre more.

If AKB48 branches out to South Korea we can rest assured they debut under YG’s sector. YG and AKB48 are Asia’s top power houses right now and go way back. They’ve worked together plenty of times before and I’d be extremely excited for that.

As for the confirmed groups:

I’m very particular about music after being raised on Matsuura Aya and many other staple centers of JPOP so I highly anticipate what the future holds.. I hope someone stands out.

Kpop vs. Jpop Debate

the debate that everyone should know the rivalry between Kpop and Jpop. When did it start? and how do you choose between Kpop and Jpop.

Since I’m a fan of both i’ve seen different opinions about it so here goesssss

Music: Between both genre of music, jpop has a more dynamic vibe to it you wouldn’t get such as artist like SHISHAMO, AKB48, SUPER BEAVER, SCANDAL, ONE OK ROCK and so on. Also people would choose Jpop because of groups such as AKB48 and MM and how unique their groups are and their system of how they release singles. In the Kpop side the music is more western, but with a flavour of Korean style music mixed in. What I liked about Kpop is how (sometimes) the mix good english words and the hiphop vibe it lik artist such as DEAN, Gary, Zico and Zion t. What I feel like Jpop should have is more rapping in their songs like what they kind of did in AKB48 Green Flash with Takamina and Sayaka rapping was heaven! which would make it even better! since I’m into hiphop songs at the moment.

 Groups: Groups have HUGE influence in people choices between Kpop and Jpop. Jpop groups are more shy, cuties types, not all of them but mostly groups idols groups such as AKB48, Morning Musume, Hey say jump and so on.  Theirs also more diverse groups in the Jpop world with groups like babymetal, BIGMAMA and also CO-ED groups. For Kpop i’ve been in the genre for a while now their a lot of progress to get into more diverse groups such as groups like The Ark, but their still into the hiphop guy groups, and sexy, cute girl groups. Overall in both genre they have great people with great personalities, it all depends on what groups stuck out to you the most.

Appearance: Jpop appearance to the public is more like “What is happening” type of vibe, specially the odd music videos we come across. Also Jpop also been a thing since anime beacame HUGELY popular, with anime OST which beacame a huge hit in america ever since like Pokemon, Naruto, Sailor Moon. Having group like SUPER BEAVER and GENERATION singing anime openings and OST makes that anime even more great. Kpop appearance is more western style appealing to western viewer, giving you a more reconcilable style of music such as songs like PARTY, SHAKE IT, and FLY giving away a happy upbeat sound that sound familiar to modern pop music.

Popularity: Jpop and Kpop have huge popularities around the world, but I would say Kpop is more popularized than Jpop. Not the Jpop is not popular, it just that Kpop huge success since about 2012 hit with songs like Fantastic baby and Gangnam Style, since then Kpop been booming ever since. Even K-drama also been having a huge hit with their OST. Jpop on the other hand is still popular, but not how Kpop is. Jpop expanded and popularized way before Kpop, it just Kpop been taking over what Jpop originally created and expanding it even more. Overall Kpop and Jpop in my heart is both popular. That all depends on you.

Lastly is all depends on YOU, just wanted to say this debate since it been going on for a while. This is what i’ve come across, not hating on Jpop or Kpop this is just information I got and read on debates about these two Genre.

ALSO, please pleaseeee, don’t just hate one genre, even when you didn’t even listen to good music in both Jpop or Kpop. Not everything in Jpop is cuties, anime OST and Kpop bad english and over-sexualized groups. NOT ALL groups in Jpop or Kpop are like that. Just giving you a heads up! Also comment below what you think is the best Genre Kpop or Jpop and why below?

TOP 10 IDOL SCANDALS

Well, whats a good idol group/ variety icon without some ”omg” scandals?  I’ve decided to leave out Miichan and Sasshi’s scandal because they’ve gotten enough attention.

10.  Becky’s affair! 

Recently Japan’s most famous variety idol has been losing sleep over her affair with a married Man. Becky and Kawatoni Enon have worked together on variety series. The singer, Enon, despite being married fell in love with Becky. Under deep lust, love and affair he even brought her over to meet his family!! His wife’s health has deteriorated over not being able to eat. She has filed for a divorce and Becky and Enon continue their relationship despite beind advised otherwise. Love.. you think you know what it is… then your whole world can change! Good luck Becky!

9. “Koreans Look Like This”

Tisk, tisk tisk! International fans of Morning Musume felt extremely hurt and sad after a hugely controversial blog post. Tanaka Reina of Morning Musume has always made it clear that both KPOP and Korea are at the very bottom of the list of what she likes. With that being said Reina in general is a hard to please Idol, thats why I love her so much. Despite that, when the blog post about ”ugly korean eyes” was posted I was taken back and shocked. The remaining members of generation 6 had all participated in photos mocking their image of Koreans. Within a few hours the blog post was removed and apologies were written.

Michishige Sayumi’s apology barely touched the subject. And Reina did not apologize at all expressing she’s made people feel uncomfortable and it was inexcusable of her . She assured she wouldn’t post such opinions again.  Kamei Eri and management made a full apology regarding the incident.

8. Third time a charm

Milky, milky, milky… 👏

By this point she knows she can get away with anything. Since 2010 she’s been caught three separate times with men and makes a half-assed apology. Regardless of her scandals, I’m more surprised with management! Either hire every girl that was fired for scandal or fire Miyuki.. I’m sick of AKB48’s double standards and hypocracy. That’s the real scandal here, the way management in every idol group can either bend rules or throw you out the window. Where is the back bone in agencies? Treat every girl fairly and equally even in punishments.

7. Not So Charmy After All 

This has got to be my favourite scandal to look back on! Very rarely do we get to see Idols get real. However, someone secretly recorded Morning Musume’s Ishikawa Rika bashing her middle-aged fans. She was tired of being sexualized and began ranting about how the Idol industry turns women into objects. The worse part about this.. THEY MADE HER APOLOGIZE!! HAHAHA wow! Another example of an awesome management team! Well, I guess with her being Charmy she upholds her sweet image. She’s part of my favourite generation of Momusu and my favourite idol group v-u-den!

6. Insta-woah! (A lot of uncertainties regarding this) 

Mayuyu, so innocent, so kind and so caught red handed. It’s highly suspected that Nishino Miki leaked senpai Watanabe Mayu’s instagram account. Mayuyu had posted some interesting photos of her treating cold sores and so on.. Mayuyu was also bashing Haruppi and Sakura about having a lot of  plastic surgery being so young ! As of right now, everyone is denying this was Mayuyu. What makes it interesting though is that the account was deleted BEFORE the scandal surfaced.. If it was just a troll how would they have known to delete it before the issue even came up. Unless it was Mayuyu who was confronted and deleted it before fans could dig in.

5. Fried Chicken Frenzy

By far, the F U N N I E S T scandal of all time! S/mileage’s Wada Ayaka had a heated argument with her staff member after a performance.  It’s unclear what exactly the argument was about. All we know is that Wada got so angry that she flung a piece of fried chicken at him. The reason this is so funny us because she’s a sweet, innocent Buddhist who never gets angry! And FRIED CHICKEN! Not a pen, not a rock but fried chicken! Lol i can’t 😂😂😂

4. Toilet Paper

So if you don’t know who Matsuura Aya is, you really can’t say you know much about Japanese Icon’s at all. One day, photos surfaced of Matsuura-sama bringing toilet paper into someone’s house. The fact that it was toilet paper is kind of funny 😂.

She stayed the night and was photographed the next day leaving the house without toilet paper. So apparently fans immediately assumed something sexual went down. Who knows for sure? Either way that darn toilet paper never made it out of that house.

3. Takamina’s 20th Birthday party

 

Oh my gawd!

OH HOT DAMN was this scandal ever shocking! Last year photos surfaced of Takamina and Miichan from a few years ago doing some suggestive photos with ”staff members” one man was even photographed naked, I don’t want to post those types of photos on our site. You can find them though.

2. Those Gaijin though

I think we can all agree Acchan personally wasn’t ready for her graduation but did it so others could have a chance to shine. Oshima Yuko, who was still a member at the time chased after Maeda out of a restaurant. Maeda had tears streaming down her face for an unknown reason. Yuko went out to comfort her and after a while two gaijin men held the girls and brought them back inside.

NUMBER 1

Saddest Idol in the world.

Kago Ai suffered from serious depression during her last year of Morning Musume. Despite having hundreds of more members AKB48 has less scandals than Hello!Project. Whether it was Iida Kaori dry humping a man, Ishiguro Aya quitting due to pregnancy. Yaguchi Mari going AWOL over night from a boyfriend to years later having an affair. The entire 6th gen having scandals, Fujimoto Miki leaving for her husband. Kusumi Koharu admitting she used Morning Musume. Wada Ayaka hating foreigners. Maro constantly crying for attention by bashing her weight.  Natsuyaki Miyabi’s boyfriend scandal, Suzuki Airi bashing smokers, the list just doesn’t end for hello!project! Thats why I love them so much, they keep it real. 💗👍

However, Kago Ai was the saddest, she began smoking at a young age to gain approval from an older man. She was blinded by love despite his age and intentions. After the scandal went public he dumped her. She felt like she had no one and slit her wrists to end it all. She seemed to have recovered over the years but she recently revealed her husband was abusive and took her baby and left.

Aibon, we love you deeply and care so much about you! We’re always cheering you on! Continue to work hard

SOLO TOUR for Kashiwagi Yuki & Graduation Announcement

Yukirin’s first ever solo tour will take place during April – May!

Back in September Yukirin became seriously ill with a high fever and swollen tonsils causing her to go through IV treatments.  During this time she assured her fans she would make up for lost time!

Now she finally plans to perform in many places in Japan

April 14th she’ll perform in her new home’s city Niigata!! With that being said NGT fans are in for a treat!

April  21st  she’ll be in Osaka! If you’re in the kansai region I recommend you order your tickets now because it will sell fast.

April 22 she’ll be in Aichi, the venue is smaller so I highly recommend anyone in this area order tickets soon.

May 11 & 12 TOKYOOOOO! She’s doing two separate events due to the large amount of AKB48 fans. If you’re in Tokyo during this time you’ll also get lucky and see other AKB48 members in the audience! Watanabe Mayu will likely be there

On the 29th of May she’ll be performing in her home town of Kagoshima.

During her Kagoshima event she’ll be giving a statement..

As of right now it could be anything, a photobook, a solo album or her own show?? Well there is a more realistic option

It’s likely this is where she’ll announce her graduation. I’m not a Yukirin staff member so I don’t know for sure!

However, the entire solo event is great news!

Yoshizawa Hitomi is Pregnant! YAAY

With great joy I want to wish Yoshizawa Hitomi a happy, healthy and wonderful pregnancy.

Yoshizawa ‘Yossy’joined morning Musume back in 2000 along with three others, Ishikawa Rika, Kago Ai and Tsuji Nozomi. They were the revolutionary generation that changed the perception of idols  in Japan.

 

Yossy is often given credit for opening the door for boyish girls to succeed in Japan’s music industry. She was trained by senpai Yasuda Kei to become an Idol to respect, adore and above all remember. She was the last generation to join under the leadership of Morning Musume’s original leader, Nakazawa Yuko. After Nakazawa-sama’s graduation, Iida Kaori became the leader and broadened a more youthful image allowing young Yossy to further express her ”faux lesbian” image. Despite obvious difficulties, Yoshizawa managed to work hard during her early idol years. The years of Iida Kaori as leader and Goto Maki as ace are known as the beginning golden age of Morning Musume. This was because both Goto and Iida encouraged members to promote their individual talents.

Fans and Japanese media alike continued to ship Yossy and Charmy (Ishikawa Rika) as a couple for an entire decade. They were Japan’s favourite comedy during the early to mid 2000s.

Yoshizawa became the 4th leader of Morning Musume seemingly overnight after Yaguchi Mari quit due to a groundbreaking scandal.

Her years of leadership would see the end of Morning Musume’s golden era and the rise of the National Idols, AKB48. Yoshizawa did her best to keep Morning Musume relevant and successful during their defeat. However, Morning Musume remained where the top begins. They are still a large staple in JPOP.

Niigaki Risa, Yoshizawa Hitomi, Kamei Eri, Fujimoto Miki, Takahashi Ai, Tanaka Reina, Michishige Sayumi and Mitsui Aika + Kusumi Koharu in the middle

After Miki’s center position seemed to gain less attention than expected a new route was taken.

Tanaka Reina, Takahashi Ai and Niigaki Risa stepped forward as the aces. Thus the platinum era began. Yoshizawa handed her leadership torch to Miki and shortly after she handed it to Takahashi Ai.

Yoshizawa has continued to work hard ever since her graduation in 2007.  Now she has a new project, raising a beautiful baby! I’m so happy I cried happy tears!!

What a journey, she’s been part of 2 eras in Jpop and her boyish legacy is carried on by idols like Miyazawa Sae and The Hoopers. I can’t forget to mention the current ikemen Kudo Haruka of Morning Musume!!

Miyazawa Sae, graduation preparations

Wow..

2008 was the year I discovered Jpop for very first time.. By the time I got into AKB48 I had already known the name ”Miyazawa Sae” . She appeared on variety tv nearly every week sporting her cunning personality and beautiful smile. Her boyish style was one of many reasons she became an oshimen at first sight.

Throughout the years Sae acted as a supportive senpai and obediant kohai. She is the only member every girl in AKB48 can say got a long with everybody she met.

Sae was a victim of bullying during middle school, her story of becoming on top of her emotions inspired me. She eventually rebuilt her confidence and turned her sorrows into absolute love and kindness for others. She’s known to be the member that steps in between fights and rebuild friendships.

 

She never claimed to be perfect, that made her perfect.

She never claimed to be the best, that made her the best.

She never claimed to be the most supportive senpai, but her kohai say otherwise.

With Sae becoming an OG, all of the 48 family has large shoes to fill. I dont  care what anyone says, she will always be the greatest member. I’m looking forward to seeing her grow in the future.

As of right now, lets cheer on the current line up! Lets show Sae all of her hard work wont go to waste.

Both of my oshimen in Jpop will be graduated from their respective groups. All I really have left is Maachan from Momusu!!

So, whats next??  Haha

SNH48’s Tang Anqi, Still in Critical Condition

I’m sorry for not writing this sooner, the circumstances surrounding this heart breaking near fatal experience is still under investigation. Before I make any statements I want to thank everyone who has helped her so far .

With that being said, the amount of support Tang has received during her critical recovery is heart warming. Her first round of skin graphing was successful. As long as the doctors can prevent her exposed tissue from becoming infected she’ll hopefully recover.

SNH48 staff,  members and fans have donated blood to help keep her going during the most intense portions of her hospitalization.
